There’s Something About Sindy
In October of 1999, Altoids launched a campaign unlike any other. It wasn’t so much to promote their new line of Cinnamon Altoids, as it was to generate interest in the fact that they had a new product. With racy advertising, and “devil girl,” Pamela Vandenberg, they created a sensation among consumers of all ages, surprisingly both male and female.
The ad campaign was a success, and fans clamored to obtain every available image, postcard or short film available. The toohot.com website traffic reached an unprecedented high. But just two short years later, all content disappeared. And all that remains on the web today, are a few short, picture scarce articles, describing the campaign and its eccentricity as merely what "once was".
So what was it about Sindy? Was it the glamour of the retro inspired costume, the brazen yet enticing verbiage, or the sheer fact that she was a woman dressed like the devil? Perhaps the answer to this question might vary depending on whom you ask. But whether foe or fan, one thing is certain. People were talking about Sindy.
Nearly 9 years later, Sindy is back. We have recreated the ad campaign with beautiful model, Anna Squires, wearing an all custom handmade costume. Our new photo sets of Sindy are available along with some of the original Sindy content that is yours just for visiting the site. To the old fans of Sindy and to the new ones we hope to create, we welcome you to our Too Hot site and value both your support and feedback.
